On April 16, 2016, C.M., a fifty-eight year old woman, was on her way home from work at night, driving her car in the far right lane of the Eisenhower expressway in Chicago, Illinois, when she was involved in a collision with a truck. A semi-tractor trailer changed lanes improperly, striking the rear of C.M.’s car, forcing it into a counter-clockwise spin, where it was hit by another vehicle. The truck driver denied any liability for the crash, blaming C.M. for the accident.
As a result of the crash, CM suffered a torn medial meniscus, and underwent arthroscopic knee surgery. She missed approximately twelve (12) weeks of work as a bus driver.
The auto accident attorneys at Peter Higgins Law was able to prove how the accident occurred using photographic evidence taken of the vehicles at the scene, and statements given by C.M. and the truck driver.
Once we obtained C.M.’s bills and medical records, photos, and police report, we entered into settlement negotiations with the truck driver’s insurance company, and settled the case for $150,000 without having to file a lawsuit.
